Friday Stuff!

Hello Friday, welcome back.. oh how I've missed you!!
It seems like our Summers have been so crazy around here that Fridays come & go without me even blinking an eye. Every weekend it's been a party of some sort be it a graduation, birthdays, celebrating special occasions with friends and so forth. It's just a busy time of year!

I think this may be the first weekend since May? April? that there is actually nothing on the calendar. Shocking! So, I may make the trip down to the beach tomorrow with the girls. Alone. Maybe. I'm still thinking about it. It's not that difficult really, they love it.. they play.. they go in the water (with me holding them back because they think they are dolphins!) and it's just a nice day. I love it! They love it! Usually, I have someone coming along with me though but... everyone seems to be working or has plans and I just really wanna go! So, we'll see... am I that brave? I already have a few other days planned off work to make trips to the beach this Summer which I am super excited about! Before you ask, Chris is not a fan of the beach so he doesn't really go and I'd rather not 'make' him go because it would just ruin my happy place. ha! Plus, he has to do some work around the fire hall tomorrow to get ready for their big barbecue coming up.

Other than that, things are going ok around here. Jaelyn has been testing the waters a little bit lately. Not sure if it's a growth spurt or what {she has seem to grow a few inches in the past couple months}. She's a VERY picky eater, VERY. So meals with her are always somewhat of a circus. She immediately sticks her nose up, crosses her arms and pinches her lips together refusing to even try what is in front of her and I promise, we are not giving her worms or anything, lol! Most times I ask her to TRY a bite of what is on her plate and if she doesn't like it, then fine but even that becomes a hassle and I feel like I'm making deals all through dinner, which probably isn't right but eh. Any advice? She also has been giving the babysitter a hard time here & there throughout the day - not picking up toys when asked, not listening... all very normal for an almost 4 year old I'm sure but, it can be tiring. Hopefully it's just the 'I'm bored it's Summer and I need something else to do' type of thing. She starts Pre-K in September. I'm curious to see how she does!

Abbie is potty trained, finally. *Does a giant happy dance*. She rarely has accidents and is dry every morning. I thought she would be going to Kindergarten in Pull-Ups so I'm very happy! But sad, too? That means she's growing up way too fast!! She is the opposite of her sister when it comes to eating. She is more than willing to try anything you put in front of her. She may not like it, which is fine but she will try it. She LOVES vegetables of any type, spicy food and rarely ask for anything sweet. Crazy! lol! She has her moments of meltdowns... I mean, she is 2! lol... but she is doing well.

The daycare business is well under way. The loan was approved, insurance has been bought, architect was  hired and things should be coming together quickly... so excited! Abbie will be going to work with Daddy once it is completed and Jaelyn will also join them at the daycare as Pre-K is only a 1/2 day. I haven't decided yet if I will be working there. I don't want to put a strain on our marriage and I know working together can be difficult. Plus, I have health insurance for now and I like my job... so it's a decision for me to think about!

Ok, I think that's all of the updates.. whew.. sorry to ramble! I sometimes forget this blog isn't just about pictures and challenges and blog hops... it's also for me to talk about what is going on with us and keep a journal for me to look back on and that's why I love it! :)

Speaking of blog hops... check out some of these fun friday blogs!

Guest Blogger Spotlight -- Chelsey from The Paper Mama

Are you looking for a new blog to check out? Maybe get some advice, just connect with another Mommy or a really good story to make you laugh? Well, here at Don't Blink, I have decided to start a Blogger Spotlight! I will be featuring my favorite blogs that I visit frequently. They make me laugh, they offer advice and they deserve a spotlight feature so you can check them out, too!

Please welcome Chelsey from The Paper Mama!!!!

Chelsey is a super cute, whimsical awesome lady! I ran across her blog just clickn' around and wow, so happy I did! Her daughter Ruari is simply adorable and can put a smile on your face on those days when you really need a smile (and on the days you don't, either!). She takes some pretty amazing photos that you can't help to gawk over! Chelsey took some time from her busy schedule to answer some questions for me... so cute! Please be sure to check out her blog and leave her some love!!

The Paper Mama

1. Where do you call "home"?
Oregon

2. When did you start blogging?
I started blogging in 2008 on my poor old lovely Paper lady blog... BUT, I'm a Paper Mama now. :D

3. Besides blogging, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Draw... take one million photos... walk... have some wine. ;D
4. Tell us about your family:
There's my hubby Mike, me, Ruari the little baby head, Angus the Chihuahua, Princess the cat, and Pistachio the cat. Yes, my animals are apart of my family. Even though they poo/pee on the floor and barf in my shoes! We're one big happy family! :D

5. What is the one thing your daughter can do to bring a smile to your face?
When she is laughing... that's just the best. AND... she is so extremely silly! I'm afraid she's picking up my humor... That reminds me... I really should stop giggling when she toots...

6. What does your family do for fun?
We really love going to local festivals/farmer's markets/etc. Anything in the community that is family friendly is ALWAYS a blast. :D

7. What do you find is the most fun about blogging?
It's really been the amazing support and connections I've made! I'm making real/true friends through blogging.

8. Where is your favorite place to shop?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE going to handmade indie shows. Not craft bazaars... my fave in Oregon is Crafty Wonderland.

9. What advice would you offer to a new Mommy?
If you feel any sort of depression... tell someone. Period. Hormones can be crazy.

10. What do you like to do to pamper/spoil yourself?
Well... when we can afford it I like getting pedicures with a glass of wine... totally spoiled. :D

Thank you so, so much Chelsey for doing this interview!
I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did!
