Five Question Friday

I am participating in Five Question Friday again this week
- hosted by My Little Life

Rules for 5QF: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog, answer them, then watch for the linky post to appear Friday morning! Feel free to answer in the comments if you don't have a blog or already wrote a post (although, for the record, I leave the linky open until Sunday, so you have plenty of time!!)

Questions for Friday, October 29th: (Special thanks to Bethany, Sandy, Pam, Jesslyn, andJill for their question suggestions! If YOU would like to be linked in a future Five Question Friday, c'mon over to my community and offer up your best question suggestions!)

1. If you could be a fly on any wall, which would you choose?
Hmmm... I'd like to say someones wall like in the Kardishian home to get some good gossip, sell it to a trashy magazine & make millions but somehow that seems wrong. So, instead I shall I'll just say anyone of the walls at the girls Daycare; just so I can see how they act, play, sleep when me & hubby aren't around!

2. Do you budget your Christmas shopping or just get it done without budgeting?
I TRY to budget, really I do! I say I am only going to spend x amount of dollars on this present, that present, etc. but mostly I'm just happy to be done when it comes down to it.

3. What is the craziest fad diet you have ever done?
I can't say I've ever really done a fad diet. I've done Weight Watchers and had a Special K bar here or there and even did Slim-Fast but I never really did them all 100%? Which could be why they never really worked. Hmmm..

4. Is there a TV show that you have seen every episode/season of?
Yes, FRIENDS!! Oh how I loved Friends & miss it so much! I still catch re-runs of it when I can and laugh just as much as I did the first time I seen it.

5. What one song always pulls at your heart?
Butterfly Kisses and Christmas Shoes. Oh man, bring on the tissues!!

Toddler Talk Thursdays

Welcome to the eleventh week of Toddler Talk Thursday! Where Family and Life in Las Vegas, Crazy about my Baybah, and My Life as a Sippy Cup Mom Talk all things Toddler!

Toddler Talk Thursday was created as a place for moms and dads of toddlers to come together over a weekly topic and share ideas, go-to toys, or products. It is a great way to meet other bloggers of toddlers. Each week the topic will be different; we invite you to link up, share your weekly Toddler Talk!

This week’s topic is: Extended Family!
Tell us about your toddler's favorite extended family members!

Jaelyn & Abbie are close to all of our family members. We are a close-knit family who get together often and enjoy spending time with each other. Each person plays such a special part in their lives and will forever be engraved on their little hearts.

They call my Mom & Dad: Mom-Mom & Pop-Pop. They are often asking where is Pop-Pop? or I want to see Mom-Mom!

The are completely in love with Chris' Mom - Nana!! They have their own language with her, especially when she reads them books.

We are often spending time with my Sister & her family and my Brother & his family, which includes Cousins, Aunts & Uncles. All of whom the girls adore & love.

Uncle Billy & Jaelyn

Aunt NancyJo & Abbie

Aunt Noel

Jaelyn & my best friends daughter, Amber

COUSINS!!!

Next weeks topic will be: What's in your diaper bag?

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Today my husband turn the big 4-0! Wow, where does the time go? I remember celebrating his 30th birthday with him... we had a big party with friends, family, catered food & a dj! 4 years later he did the same for me.

We have had many ups & downs the past 22 months with welcoming Jaelyn & Abbie into our family. We've endured sleepless nights, changed a ton of diapers, watched countless episodes of Caillou, Barney, The Wiggles & Dora. Thru all of it, my husband has been truly amazing and a wonderful father.

He was never one to just go right up and pick up a baby to hold whether it be his nieces or nephews or a friends newborn. He would quietly watch from the sidelines and witness the joy on my face as I held a little one, longing for one of my own. The night Jaelyn & Abbie came home to us changed all of that. Our 2 little girls have wrapped him right around his finger and it fills my heart to hear him being called "Daddy".

We sang Happy Birthday this morning (well, the version from Sprout anyways). We gave hugs & kisses and wish him a very good day. Tonight we will have a small cake with just the 4 of us and celebrate the best Daddy on earth!

Sleep

sleep
[sleep]
verb, slept, sleep·ing, noun
–verb (used without object)
1. to take the rest afforded by a suspension of voluntary bodily functions and the natural suspension, complete or partial, of consciousness; cease being awake.

I heard all the stories of other Mom's. "Sleep when you can!" "Take naps when the baby takes naps!" When I was handed (yes, literally handed) a 6 week old newborn and a 17 month old toddler at the same time I never appreciated the word sleep more. I remember the days of getting up every 4 hours with Abbie, sitting on the couch and thinking "I am never going to sleep again, am I?" while she sucked down her formula and smiled at me. When I started back to work, my wonderful husband did help out on the midnight feedings front. He would graciously let me "sleep" in on the weekends and I would graciously accept the offer knowing I'd be up in about an hour. I'm not one who can just shut my eyes and drift off to sleep. It usually takes me a while to fall silent & slumber.

Now that both girls are older, the hubster & I fight over who is getting up and each of us gets that extra hour one day out of the weekend. Which brings me to nap time. Jaelyn has always, always been a good napper. I am usually waking her up after 2 hours just because I want her to sleep at night! To this day, I can normally put her down for a nap around noon-ish and she will be out for 2 hours. Granted, there are some days that she refuses or perhaps just isn't tired because she slept in a little or had sugar or is too excited for the days events after the nap. You get the picture.

Abbie on the other hand, is not a sleeper. She usually refuses a nap. Somedays I will put her in her crib and she will lay there singing, talking to her Baby Bop doll so I don't bother her, I figure she is resting at least? Other days she screams at the very top of her lungs, cries, pouts, throws a major fit (but never climbs out of her crib - go figure!) until I go in and calm her down. I know she is tired, I can tell by the yawns & the dark circles under her eyes. I try laying with her, I try sitting beside her crib, I rock her.. nothing seems to work. I've just about reach the point where she is just over the whole nap thing so I don't have to fight with her anymore. The other hiccup in all of this is... she doesn't sleep longer or later either! Last night, she was bathed, drank milk, brushed her teeth and was in bed asleep by 8:00pm. She was up at 6:00am. She was completely miserable. She screamed if I walked out of the room, she screamed if I talked to her, she screamed if I so much as closed my own eyes to rest, even though I was right there on the couch with her. I can honestly say I almost feel sorry for the caretakers at daycare today because she will probably be close to impossible to deal with. Then again, maybe its just my buttons she likes to push!

I should be grateful for early bedtimes and sleeping thru the night (mostly). But when I have to work all day, sleep sounds like a distant memory of my past. Will I ever again sleep past the 8:00am hour? Will I ever sleep thru an entire night without getting up several times? Oh how I crave sleep somedays. There are days that I would love nothing more than to just lay in my king size bed, in my pjs, doing nothing but sleeping.

Disclaimer: I wrote this blog with a horrible nights sleep so if it seems all over the place and none of it makes sense, I have an excuse. Lack of sleep.

Halloween Sneak Peak

What a lovely weekend it was! The weather was mild, no rain and we actually had no plans on the calendar, except for dance class on Saturday morning with Jaelyn. I am proud to report she did well this week (2nd week!), she went right into the studio, put her little tap shoes in her special hula hoop and off she went prancing on her tippy toes. She was very proud of herself at the end of class and so was I.

After a quick lunch & somewhat of a nap, which is a whole other blog in itself (my 22 month old is refusing a nap anymore! AHHH!) we met my Sister and 2 children at a local park for some picture-taking and playing. I wanted to try to get some shots of the girls in their Halloween costumes before the whole trick-or-treating thing which is rushed & all that. So we put on our costumes and off to the park we went.

Now, Abbie is not fond of pictures right now. Getting her to sit still is near impossible. She would rather do her own thing, which I am ok with but it doesn't exactly make for the cute catelog pictures I picture in my head. Here are some examples of such:

This first one isn't so bad... but this is after some major dancing around like a fool, yelling SAY CHEESE ABBIE and so forth.. haha!

This is her.. "No, I refuse to look at you or smile" look.

This is the stubborn bumble bee refusing to pose, smile, look at me, etc. However, I think this pretty is pretty stinkin' cute!

As you can see, she is a bumble bee. How perfect does it fit her personality you say? To a TEE! She is always buzzing around, always on the go, never stops and completely wears you out after chasing after her (althout a bee chases you but you get the idea). I love the outfit with it's girly tutu flair and fur. She is one sweet bee!

Jaelyn is Minnie Mouse, of course! She is all things Minnie Mouse/Mickey Mouse right now so this was an obvious choice. Plus this cute costume was once worn by my niece, Gracie so it came in quite handy! Jaelyn doesn't mind "modeling" for me or smiling or showing off... she is quite the girly girl!

I am excited for Trick-or-Treat this year as both girls get the concept and we've been practicing as well! It should be a fun day and beings that it is on Saturday this year, all the better! More time to enjoy it without so much rushing maybe?

I promised we could play after pictures and the girls didn't let me forget. It was a pretty day though so we all didn't mind soaking up some sun and enjoy the neat jungle gym stuff!

Hope your weekend was just as fun!!
